I started watching Hollyoaks 4 years ago because of this character. He is my favourite character of all time, despite the fact that he is no longer in the show. For all of you that don't watch Hollyoaks and don't know they story: Newt suffers from a mental illness called schizophrenia. Eli and Rae are figments of his imagination. He thinks they are his real friends but really they are just other parts of him. Eli is his dark side and Rae is the part of him that wants to jump and leave the world behind. This was one of Hollyoaks best storylines ever and is something no other soap has ever attempted. Schizophrenia is most common in teenagers and young adults, and this storyline brings this to light and makes people aware of it.
