Nuiqsut which is located 136 miles southeast of Barrow, Alaska. 60 miles west of Prudhoe Bay, 8 miles south of Alpine Oil Fields. The old village of Nuiqsut (Itqilippaa) was abandoned in the late 1940s. The village was resettled in 1972 by 27 Inupiat families from Barrow. After living in tents for 18 months. A school, homes, and facilities were constructed by federal agencies in the summer of 1974. Now over 400 people call Nuiqsut home and we continue to grow.
